Wednesday Wonders ~ Awaken Journaling

"Fill your paper with the breathings of your heart." ~ Wordworth
.....
I journal...most days. I'm always on the lookout for gorgeous journals ~ for me, part of the pleasure of writing is the experience of the perfect journal - the color, paper, binding, cover... Awaken Journaling on Etsy, captured my heart with this quote, beautifully written in their shop banner and with their vibrantly colored, handmade journals made with beautiful recycled leather (can't you just feel the soft texture?) and lovely papers. I can feel that special pen in my hand, the texture of the paper, the blank space ready for thoughts, dreams, inspirations...where would you find a more perfect and personal gift?

TransCanada Etsy Team Autumn Challenge

Autumn ~ colorful leaves, the harvest, crisp fall air, gathering, sowing, scattering...the theme for the first ever Trans Canada Etsy Team's monthly challenge, has inspired several delightful creations from team members across Canada!

"No eye can overlook when, 'mid a grove

Of yet unfaded trees, she lifts her head,

Deck'd with autumnal berries that outshine

Spring's richest blossoms."

~ Wordsworth

The mountain ash is my favorite tree in autumn ~ I love to create huge bouguets of its branches, heavy with berry clusters and display them around my house. These earrings are inspired by this beautiful tree and are my creation for the Trans Canada Team Autumn Challenge.

A total of 13 gorgeous entries are on display in the team blog...drop by if you have a minute and vote for your favorite!

I get by with a little help from my friends!

Check out this warm and woodsy collection from some of my all time favorite Etsians! Many of them are also participating in Etsy Project Embrace, raising money for cancer research in support of our friend and fellow etsian, Laura Slocum.
Happy Thursday!

Night Fever

ok...I know...it was the late 70's...disco, Saturday Night Fever, shaggy hair, the Beegees... and although I tend to be drawn to designs, music and the culture of the 50's and 60's, I was actually part of the disco generation (blushing). I remember not being allowed to go see this movie because my mother thought it would be a 'bad influence' on a teenager (moi). The dancing WAS alot of fun! A few years later, I met my husband near one of these dance floors and the rest is history!

Like a disco ball in the center of the dance floor, these faceted light reflecting hoops and beads were just irresistible to me!

'do the hustle' do-do-do-do-do-do-do....!

Cowls, scarves, neckwarmers, fibre jewelry, applique, bags and baby items ~ delicate or chunky and textured, each piece is truly a work of art! Evelda herself is friendly and gracious.

Leap into Autumn ~ Happy September 1st!

Cool bright mornings, sunlight on the lake, cosy sweaters and woodfires...ahhh, September treasures! I have a vivid childhood memory of a pink mohair (soooooo itchy!) sweater, my younger sister and brother, a pile of leaves and an autumn afternoon. We raked and jumped and played until nearly dark, exhausted and full of fun! Last October, my niece and nephew endlessly raked this pile of leaves and leapt to their hearts content. While I often feel a little nostalgic at the end of summer, I do love the leap into this beautiful season of the year!
Welcome, September.
